A mid 20th century Sarugh design wool and cotton rug from the area of Markasi, the woven wool with a large central medallion and with borders of nomadic motifs in colours of strong red, blue, burnt orange, deep blue and ivory. The wool pile is dense and is soft to the touch. Area of Central Persia, circa 1960.
