A French Oak Monastery Table

A large and wide 19th century French Louis XIV style solid oak Monastery's refectory table, the 4 cm thick top with a wonderful texture from use, standing on elegant, cannon barrel turned oak legs joined by a sturdy 'H' stretcher, well-worn by feet. Retaining a very good and original patination throughout, the surfaces of the timbers nicely burnished. Please note the large overhangs of the top, at each table end. Area of Normandy, France, circa 1850.
