A French Still Life

A mid 20th century French oil-on-canvas still-life of excellent composition and colour, with apples, grapes, walnuts and pears, a blue majolica vase in the background. Signed in the bottom right-hand corner “Reneaut”. Retaining the original carved and painted "Montparnasse" frame. Area of Paris, circa 1970.

The rear stamped with the SPADEM hallmark. The "Société de la Propriété Artistique et des Dessins et Modèles" (The Society for Artistic Property and Designs and Models), referred to as S.P.A.D.E.M., or SPADEM, was a copyright protection and collection society formed by visual artists and their heirs in France.
