An early 19th century French Louis Philippe period gilt oval mirror of good, Classic proportions and of simple design, the gilt frame etched with floral and foliate patterns and decorated with string-of-pearl mouldings, the original gilt finish nicely worn. Please note: the gilt finish is actually silver gilt, originally sealed with yellow tinted varnish to give the appearance of gold. Fitted with its original mirror plate. Area of Paris, circa 1830.
