A 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XVI style, gilt brass and cut crystal baluster chandelier of five lights fitted with shaped and cut crystals pendants and with swags of sweeping crystal chains. Originally this chandelier was a 'Gasolier' running on piped gas, and it still retains the original gas valves on the arms. It was converted to electricity in the early 20th century. Please note the elegance and the jewellery-like quality of the chased and gilt brass arms. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
