An 18th Century French Farmhouse Table

An 18th century French provincial solid beechwood extending farmhouse table of exceptional width, the table's top and the underside beautifully bleached by its use in a French convent's laundry. The regular wetting with soap and bleach have done their work over many years, resulting in the presently pale and soft driftwood like colour. Standing on chamfered square-section legs joined by an 'H' stretcher. The underside of this table shows its early construction techniques. Area of the Lower Normandy, circa 1780.

Dimensions: Width 90.5 cm, length 220 cm, extending to 272 with one extension leaf, and to 324 cm fully extended. Height 76 cm, leg-room under the rails 62.5 cm.
