A vintage hand-beaten brass and copper coal scuttle of large proportions, the surfaces of the copper showing marks from its use for storing household coal. Fitted with a Delft ceramic handle and with a large pouring lip, this scuttle is large enough to be used as an umbrella stand. The front has a soldered brass tag inscribed with "5 KAN", a measure for 'five volumes' of coal. Area of Holland, circa 1950.
