A French Directoire period solid mahogany fall-front bureau of wonderfully shallow proportions and restrained design, internally fitted with drawers and standing on elegant 'Jacob' turned legs. The front of this piece is decorated with moulded panels and with fluted pilasters, the top is fitted with its original Carrara marble which is framed by raised and fretted gilt brass edges. Retaining all of its original locks brass handles and escutcheons. Area of Greater Paris, circa 1800.
