A pair of 19th century French Louis XI style, carved, turned and painted Fauteuil armchairs of fine and Classical proportions, the back-rests with a subtly painted criss-cross pattern on the woven rattan cane, with 'Chapeau de Gendarme' top rails and with upholstered seats, standing on elegantly tapering and fluted legs. Please note the wonderful luminosity of the painted finish. The seats are of a height suitable to sit at a table. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
