An exceptionally large, 19th century French Regence style, carved and gilded armchair decorated with the typical Regence broad backrest and with sweeping arm rests, standing on shaped legs joined by a curved 'X' stretcher base. Retaining a faded brocade fabric edged with bronze studs. Please note: this armchair's seat is tall enough for a person to sit on it at a desk, or a table. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
