An 18th century French Directoire period, Classical Medici solid Carrara marble urn, made in two connecting parts, carved with with egg-and-dart motifs, and standing on a gadrooned baluster plinth. The centre of the urn is hollowed out and shows the chisel marks of its early construction technique. A drain hole at the bottom allows for excess water to flow out of the urn. Area of Paris, circa 1790.
