A 19th century French oval-shaped, tilt-top Vigneron (wine-maker's) table, the timber top decorated with a hand-painted, overflowing basket of fruit, the painted finish well-burnished and patinated over time. Please note the 'A' swivel mechanism that allows this table top to tilt. This type of table was designed to be easily transported and stowed away, and was primarily used for wine-tastings and wine sales. There is ample leg-room under the top. Area of Burgundy, circa 1880.
