Falconet's Cupid

A large, 19th century terracotta statue of the famous 'Seated Cupid' that Etienne-Maurice Falconet (1716-1791) made in 1757 for Madame de Pompadour. This cherub was made to the exact dimensions, pose and expression of the original, but without the cherub wings. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

This item due in Melbourne 2025.

Condition report: Complete and in excellent condition.

Dimensions: Height 61 cm, diameter plinth 28 cm.
