A 19th century pastel on paper landscape depicting a harvest scene in France, mounted on its original stretched canvas support and fitted into its original carved and gilt frame. Unsigned. The style and the luminous quality of this painting is very close to the works by Léon-Augustin Lhermitte (1844-1925), a French naturalist painter who was known for his scenes of peasants working in fields, many of them executed with pastels on paper. The rear of the pastel with the original Parisian canvas maker's stamp. Area of Paris, circa 1890.
