A French "Revolutionary" plate, the hand painted majolica with the central pattern inscribed with "Tresor National" and the date 1791. This refers to a major historical turning point during the French Revolution, with the nationalization of all church property decreed by the National Assembly. The underside with marks of the potteries of Nevers. Area of Central France, circa 1880.
