A 19th century French Soupière white glazed faience soup tureen of Classical 'Medicis' shape, the lid with its original ring handle, the urn-shaped tureen with two 'Cartouche' carrying handles. The underside is stamped with the hallmark of 'Luneville'. Please note: in France, a soup tureen like this one is often used as a 'vide-poches', somewhere to put coins and keys into, near the front door. Area of Luneville, North East France, circa 1880.
