A 19th century French Louis XVI style gilt 'Allegorical' mirror, the frame decorated with stepped corners, with Guilloche moulding patterns and with raised trellises of flowers and leaves. Surmounted by an out-sized floral wreath, laurel fronds (an allegory for Success) and with a knotted bow (an allegory for a Family's Union), around a crossed torch and quiver motif (allegories for the Flame of Passion and the Piercing Arrow of intelligence). Retaining the original mirror plate. Please note the wonderfully soft, original colour of the gilt finish. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
