A French Empire style ceiling lantern, the pediment with elegantly scroll-work and foliate pattern crown, the plinth with a central pine cone and with swan finials, retaining the original cast, faceted glass body. Paris, circa 1950.Please note: the swan motif is a symbol of Josephine Bonaparte. It refers to the black swans that the navigator Nicolas Baudin (1754-1803) brought back to France from South Australia, and which Josephine Bonaparte took for her aviary at the 'Château de Malmaison'.
