A pair of 19th century, French provincial 'Flambeaux' brass candlesticks, the Classical pilaster-turned balusters decorated with ogee mouldings, standing on circular plinths. The balusters are fitted with mechanical slides, to raise the candles higher as they become shorter with use. The brass surfaces nicely worn and well patinated, and covered with old candle wax. Paris, circa 1870.
