An early 19th century French draper's, the well-burnished top made from solid oak retaining a wonderfully rich, original patina, standing above baluster-shaped square-section legs joined by an ‘H’ stretcher. Please note the wonderful character and the wear on the top, which is scored in a grid pattern and inlaid with brass rulers, for the draper to measure and cut cloth to measurements in centimeters. This table can sit comfortable ten, with plenty of leg-room around it. Area of Calvados, Normandy, circa 1830.
