A 19th century French napoleon III period carved pure-white Carrara marble statuette, after the famous 'Seated Cupid' that Etienne-Maurice Falconet (1716-1791) made in 1757 for Madame de Pompadour, the marble surfaces showing the effects of many decades of being displayed outdoors. Area of Paris, circa 1870.

Condition report: In good, unrestored condition. The surfaces showing erosion and staining from atmospheric carbon. There are no breaks, the carbon stains have penetrated into the natural veins.
Dimensions: Height 50 cm, diameter at plinth 20 cm.
