A 19th century French Louis XV style, Napoleon III period, carved pure white Carrara marble hand carved sculpture, after the famous 'Seated Cupid' that Etienne-Maurice Falconet (1716-1791) made in 1757 for Madame de Pompadour, the official chief mistress of King Louis XV. The marble surfaces show the effects of many decades of being displayed in a Parisian outdoors setting. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
