A 19th century French Brass Planter

A 19th century French oval shaped, repouseed brass 'Jardiniere' planter decorated with haut-relief motifs depicting a lady with a child on a hammock, set in a garden. Retaining its original metal sleeve fitted  with carrying ring handles. Standing on shaped bracket feet. This type of planter was usually planted for indoor use, with live cooking herb plants. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Please note: once cleaned up, this planter box can be used as an elegant Champagne and wine ice bucket.

Condition report: Complete and in good, unrestored condition.
