A pair of mid 18th century French Louis XV period 'Fauteuils Cabriolet', solid beechwood armchairs, decorated with haut-relief carved floral and foliate motifs and standing on elegantly shaped Cabriole legs, the shaped and concave backrests above shaped seats which are fitted with hand-woven rattan cane. Please note the harmony of the curves in the armchairs, and the elegance of their tall backs. One the armchairs stamped on a rear upright with the hallmarks of the Parisian cabinetmaker "H. Hamand" (Henri Hamand, who became "maître" in the gild in 1749, and also with "JME" (for the Jurande des menuisiers-ébénistes). Area of Paris, circa 1750.
