An 18th century French Louis XV period, solid oak commode of excellent proportions, the shaped and moulded timber top above five drawers (the fifth drawer hidden between the top two drawers), the serpentine front with a lower apron decorated with haut-relief carved flowers. The timbers of this piece are very well-burnished and have a wonderful and luminous patination. Please note the high quality of the large fire-gilt bronze handles and escutcheons. This commode is from the early part of the 18th century and typically displays early construction techniques. Area of Paris, circa 1730.
