A French Louis XVI Single Bed

An early 20th century French Louis XVI style carved, painted and upholstered single size bed, each of the ends with a "Chapeau de Gendarme" top rail and decorated with Neoclassical motifs including continuous-ribbon mouldings, paterae, rosettes and fluting. Please note the high quality of the haut-relief carved foliate patterns on the bed's uprights. The header and footer being of the same height, this single bed could be used as a day bed, with cushions and bolster cushions. Area of Paris, circa 1900.
