A fine, 19th century French Louis XVI style carved and painted 'lit de repos' day bed of Neoclassical proportions, the curved-top ends upholstered and with finials. Decorated with haut-relief carved 'continuous ribbon' mouldings, paterae and tapering and fluted neoclassical legs. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Condition report: In good and original, unrestored condition, showing slight wear in keeping with its age. The upholstery might still be usable, after a steam clean. Our workshop is able to make a lightweight timber platform to support a mattress. We can get one of our upholsterers to make a mattress and bolster cushions in the fabric of your choice.
