An early 19th century French Empire period carved cherrywood 'Bergere' armchair, the curved back-rest above sweeping and scrolled arm rests, The comfortable leather-upholstered and brass studded seat and wraparound back standing on elegantly shaped 'Klismos' legs, the seat height suitable for use as a desk armchair.  Area of Paris, circa 1810.

Condition report: In good and original, unrestored condition, showing slight surface wear in keeping with its age. Requiring cleaning and repolishing. The leather is in good condition, requiring some saddle soap.
Dimensions: Width 56 cm, depth 60 cm, height of backrest 84 cm, height of seat 44 cm.
