A Parisian Wing-back Armchair

A large, 19th century French Louis XV style, finely carved, painted 'Bergere' wing-back armchair of well-proportioned design. Decorated with haut-relief carved 'continuous-ribbon' patterns and with whimsical roses on stems and foliate motifs. The pediment has an outsized wreath of roses. Broad and with a tall backrest, and made for sitting comfort. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Condition report: In good and original condition, showing very slight wear in keeping with its age. Requiring to be re-covered.
Dimensions: Width 73 cm, overall height 102 cm.
