An exceptional quality, mid 19th century Napoleon III period, Louis XVI style upholstered solid walnut chair, the lyre shaped back-rest decorated with finely carved allegorical Pastoral elements such as a scythe, a straw hat, trellises of roses and olive branches. Queen Marie Antoinette famously was fond of staged rustic and pastoral scenarios. Area of Paris, circa 1860.
