A French "Revolutionary" plate, the hand painted majolica with the motto and the symbols of the French Revolution. The central pattern, with the motto "Tres in Uno" (Three in one), celebrating the unification of three factions into a single constitutional body, depicts a cross for the clergy, a sword for the aristocracy and a shovel for the peasantry. The underside with marks of the potteries of Nevers. Area of Central France, circa 1880.
