An 18th century Quimper Soup Tureen

An 18th century French faience soup tureen decorated with colourful hand painted borders and friezes and depicting stylised foliate and floral patterns, fitted with two carrying handles, the original lid with a fine cone finial. Please note: this tureen is a collectible as an example of repairs made from hand-forged metal staples to hold broken ceramic pieces together, done in times well before the invention of glue.
