A 19th century Austrian Biedermeier period 'commode' chest of drawers of typically clean, geometric lines and with book-matched walnut wood grain. The pared-down design of this commode never included handles, preferring Neoclassical brass escutcheons and keys in the locks. Please note the wonderful, shallow depth of this commode. Area of Austria, circa 1840.
