A Dutch 'Umbrella Stand'

A vintage Dutch repouseed brass and copper coal scuttle of large proportions, the surfaces of the copper showing marks from its use in storing household coal. Fitted with a Delft ceramic handle and a large pouring lip, this scuttle is large enough to be used as an umbrella stand. The front fitted with a soldered tag inscribed with "5KAN", a measure for 'five volumes' of coal. Area of Holland, circa 1950.
