A 19th century French Louis XVI style, carved and Trianon grey painted ‘Gueridon’ Salon table decorated with haut-relief carved Neoclassical motifs including paterae, continuous-ribbon and string-of-pearls mouldings and, typically for the Louis XVI style, with allegorical 'crossed flaming torches and quiver' motifs. The top was fitted with a marble insert, now missing. The turned and fluted legs support a shelf fitted with raised edges. The original milk-paint finish is quite worn. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
