A pair of 19th century French Empire style brass candlesticks, the Neoclassical and slender stems with fine fluting, standing on tripod bases decorated with 'lions paws' feet and with 'knotted rope' motifs. Attributed to Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892), a French metalworker and manufacturer, who was well known as a bronze and brass founder. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
