A small Parisian Louis XVI Desk

A small and fine, French Louis XVI style, mahogany and gilt brass-mounted 'bureau plat' desk of NeoClassical proportions and of simple design, the front fitted with three shallow drawers. The top and the pull-out extensions are fitted with leather. The desk's decorations are restrained and masculine in character, with typical French Neoclassical escutcheons and gilt brass mouldings around the drawers. This desk is well-presented on all four sides, so that it can be used in the centre of a room. Area of Paris, circa 1930.
