A 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XVI style gilt bronze mounted and marquetry-inlaid 'Gueridon' centre table, the shaped top with gilt bronze acanthus leaf mouldings, the whole table top and the table rails finely inlaid with rosewood, walnut, tulipwood, boxwood and with tinted boxwood, decorated with trellises of flowers and with 'Cartouche, and foliate scrollwork. At the centre of the top is an inlaid trophy of musical instruments, an allegory for harmony. Please note the jewellery-like quality of the timber inlays and the fine gilt bronze work, typical of the high level workmanship from a cabinet-making workshop of the Parisian 'Faubourg Saint Antoine'. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
