A French Still Life

A mid 20th century French oil-on-canvas still-life of excellent composition and colour, depicting grapes, pears, pomegranates and an antique majolica wine pitcher and glasses in the background. Signed in the bottom l.h. corner, (the signature is as yet undeciphered) . Retaining the original gilt and fabric lined frame. Area of Paris, circa 1970.

The rear stamped with the SPADEM hallmark. The "Société de la Propriété Artistique et des Dessins et Modèles" (The Society for Artistic Property and Designs and Models), referred to as S.P.A.D.E.M., or SPADEM, was a copyright protection and collection society formed by visual artists and their heirs in France.
