A fine Louis XVI style Canapé

A French Louis XVI style carved and gilded two and a half seater wingback 'Canapé a Oreilles' settee of Neoclassical design, the backrest with a knotted ribbon and flower motif crest. Standing on tapering and fluted legs and decorated with Neoclassical carved motifs such as continuous-ribbon mouldings and paterae. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Condition report: Complete and in good, as found condition. The covering fabric needs replacing.

Dimensions: 138 x 70 cm, height of backrest 102 cm.
