A French Empire Canape en Bateau

An early 19th century French Empire period solid mahogany Meridienne sofa, the ‘En Bateau' shape typically with one end higher than the other (as in, a bow and a stern), and a sweeping curve in the back-rest. This was a type of sofa made trendy in the early 19th century by the Parisian socialite, Madame Recamier. Area of Paris, circa 1820.
Condition report: In excellent, unrestored condition. The old fabric covering is in usable condition.
Dimensions: 150 x 69 cm, heights of ends 65 and 87 cm.
