A French Louis XVI Double Bed

A 19th century French Louis XVI style bed, the header and footer decorated with carved and painted timber swags, knotted bows and paterae, the footer with a carved medallion depicting a trophy of musical instruments (an allegory for harmony).Both the header and footer are fitted with finely woven cane. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Condition report: In good and un-restored condition. Our workshop can replace the missing swag on the header, and build a suitable slatted timber base to support a mattress.

Dimensions: Max width of mattress 140 cm. A Double-mattress in Australia is 138 cm wide. Headboard h: 158 cm.
