A Normandy 'Armoire de Mariage'

A 19th century French regence style 'Armoire de Mariage' from the area of Bayeux, finely haut-relief carved in solid oak.  Traditionally given as a gift to a newly-wed couple, this Armoire is decorated with haut relief allegorical motifs, including bouquets of Spring flowers (youthfulness, fertility), and laurel wreaths (success). This armoire is internally fitted with shelves, on request our workshop is able to fit a hanging bar to this armoire. Armoires from this region are considered to be amongst the finest in Normandy.
