A 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XV style, solid pine "Buffet Vitré de Mariage", (a glazed marriage-buffet), originally given as a gift to a newly-wed couple and used in a home as a storage and display piece. The timbers are nicely-burnished and with the original patina, retaining the original internal shelving. Fitted with an elegant and large "Chapeau de Gendarme" pediment, the façade is decorated with haut relief scrollwork and circular mouldings typical of the French Pays de Caux region. Please note: this piece of furniture can also be used as a bookcase. Area of Pays de Caux (Upper Normandy), circa 1860.
