A large French Louis XVI Armoire

A large and very fine 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XVI style, polished solid mahogany, plum-pudding mahogany and gilt brass-mounted Armoire, the stepped-front with three shaped doors fitted with the original hand-bevelled mirrors. Decorated with fire-gilt brass mouldings, capitols, plinths, corner paterae and with elegant pine cone finials. The pilasters' fluting is also lined with gilt brass. Please note the extraordinary quality of the finishes and of the way the finely gilt mouldings and mounts offset the mahogany. Internally fitted with the original adjustable-height shelves and drawers. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
