A Parisian Pedestal Desk

A 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XVI style, mahogany and gilt brass-mounted pedestal desk, fitted with extension slides opening at each of the two desk-ends. Designed to be facing a room, this desk is well-finished on all four sides, and includes an elegant 'modesty' panel which is fitted at the centre of the rear. Please note the fine mouldings around the drawers, the flanks and the rear, made of gilt brass. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
