A Large French 'Banquet' Table

An exceptionally large and wide mid 19th century French provincial solid European Ash 18-seater Banquet farmhouse table of elegant and simple proportions, from a winery near Tours. The top made from three wide ash planks, fitted with bread-ends. Standing on four square-section tapering legs, a fifth (removable) leg in the centre, allowing for the table to be easily transported. Good width and good leg-room of 62 cm. Notice the exceptional width and length of the planks, and the luminous colour of the European Ash. Area of the Loire Valley, circa 1850.
