A Set of Parisian Louis XV Chenets
Reference No: MM51
An exceptional set of mid 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XV style gilt bronze chenets (firedogs) of good quality, decorated with very fine, fretted foliate motifs. The central fender slips into the rear of the dogs so that the whole set is adjustable in width. Area of Paris, circa 1860.
Please note: Miguel can use the two uprights to sympathetically make a pair of table lamps. A photo below shows a similar lamp from a previously-made pair.
Condition report: In excellent, unrestored condition. Requiring to be cleaned, and to have the rear steel brackets bolted back on.
Dimensions: Height 56 cm, width (adjustable) circa 100 cm.
