A Parisian Mantle Mirror

A large and fine, mid 19th century, Napoleon III period gilt pastille work mantle mirror retaining the original mirror plate. The elegantly shaped frame decorated with acanthus leaf and string-of-pearls motifs and surmounted by an extraordinary large urn, cornucopia and foliate motif crest. The lower part of the mirror is decorated with scroll-work corbels. The gilding retains the original and soft patination throughout. Area of Paris, circa 1860.
