A Parisian Bouillotte Lamp
A fine, early 20th century French two-light Bouillotte brass lamp with its original adjustable-height, green painted tole shade. Note the lyre shaped screw-head for the shade adjustment. This sort of pressed metal lampshade on table lamps and desk lamps was used to shade the user’s eyes from direct light. Light from the lightbulbs is cast directly down onto the table-top by the reflective interior of the shade. Area of Paris, circa 1950.
Condition report: In excellent condition. Re-wired to Australian Safety Standards using gold silk electrical cord with a cord-switch.
Dimensions: Height to top of shade 48 cm.
