A large Louis XVI Dining Table
A large and wide French Louis XVI style, polished pale cherrywood dining table with an elegant round-end top, standing on finely tapering legs, all fitted with caster wheels. The table has an extension mechanism allowing for several extension leaves to be fitted. The three beechwood extension leaves that it comes with have been left as in origin, ‘in the rough’. In typical French fashion, the assumption was made that if the table was to be extended for a dinner, a beautiful tablecloth would be used that would cover the entire table top and hide the leaves.
Area of Paris, circa 1930.
On request, our workshop can build replacement cherrywood extension leaves, and match these to the colour and finish of the ends.
